Paris – On Your Day Off

Sacre Coeur

Paris on your day off.

Here are some more fun things that we discovered in Paris.
Don’t be afraid to take the Metro. It’s simple and inexpensive.
Just watch your purse!

Sacre Coure church in Montmartre-take the metro there and climb up to the church. Offers the best views of Paris and is breath taking inside. Then wander do the winding streets and stop for a snack or drink.

Clingnancourt Fleamarket-is in Montmartre as well. Be sure to ask specifically how to find it, it can be tricky. Great antiques, collectibles….

Eiffel Tower-normally I don’t go to the major touristy spots but the Eiffel Tower is amazing. Walk up to the middle platform area at sunset and have a glass of champagne. The tower is much bigger than you’d imagine.

Ilse Saint Louis-wander around on this little island in the middle of Paris, great restaurants and cafes. Pont Neuf, Notre Dame in this area too. A good customer recommended: La Charlotte de Ilse –19 rue Saint Louis for hot chocolates. sd

Paris – don’t forget your favorite scarf!

I always feel very Parisian when I wear my Sophie Digard scarf. Sophie is from Paris and has the most wonderful style and color sense. I met with her at the Paris show and discussed new designs, handbags, and colors. So fun! We should be getting our new things any day now. I just love my Sophie scarf and wear it with everything – matter of fact, it’s the only scarf I brought to Paris with me!

Paris: what I wore

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

With all that walking around Paris, I couldn’t believe that my feet didn’t hurt!! Of course, I wore my trusted Cydwoqs and Trippens (cool with funky socks if it’s cold). I never go on a vacation without one or two pairs. Trust me!! I walk ALOT. Also, be sure to wear a bag across your body – my Orla Kiely came in very handy for my tour guidebook, map, water, wallet, and big enough for some purchases !

March 7, 2007
Bonjour! Just got back from Paris!! The trade show was exhilarating and so much to tell you!! Something about the European designers just thrill me! Yes, charcoal is hot but even more hot is color. Plums + Purples are super hot!! So are metallics again…
Not shiny metallics, but more subtle pewters and brownish – golds. Really gorgeous. More on the fashions I saw later….but first what we discovered on the streets of Paris.

Nothing like running around Paris with a great friend. We had one day to shop and eat our hearts out. Here is how our day went as we skipped around the Marais neighborhood:

Tresor – 6 Rue du Tresor – sweet women’s clothing store that I just discovered.

Le Jardin Moghol-53 rue Vieille du Temple: amazing Indian prints, bedding, curtains.
My house is filled with curtains, throws, pillows, and my favorite robe is from here!

Miller Et Bartaux-17 rue Ferdinand Duval: handmade clothing, small collectables. I just got the coolest watch from Tokyo here!!

L’Eclaireur-3 rue des rosiers: amazing clothing and space but very $$ Good people watching!! Also don’t miss: Colette-213 rue Saint Honore-super chic and Barney’s type store with eclectic clothing, items of desire, and great people watching!

After a few shops, we were starved and needed a little treat at:

Mariage Freres-30 rue du Bourg Tibourg-definitely have lunch here + pastries. Do try the tea and champagne drink…and the caramel tea.

Next onto our favorite Moroccan shop:

Mia Zia-4 rue Caumartin: Moroccan clothing, accessories, bedding…gorgeous store.

Then onto the best macaroons and Parisian chocolate on the Right Bank:

Laduree-21 rue Bonaparte: be sure to go to the macaroon store and chocolate store. Incredible restaurant/tea salon too.

Across the street, don’t miss:

Simrane-23 rue Bonaparte (across the street from Laduree): great cotton robes, bedding, prints, pillow cases, totes, etc.

Our favorite restaurants in Paris so far are:

404-69 rue des Gravilliers (01.42.74.57.81 reservations a must.) the best Morrocan food!
Café Noura-121 blvd du Montparnasse (01.43.20.19.19) Lebanese Food! Don’t miss it!
Fish La Boissonnerie – 69 Rue de Seine (01.43.54.34.69) must make a reservation!
