Get red-y for fall!

Thursday, August 7th, 2014

Whoa, wasn’t it yesterday that it was mid-May? The summer feels like it’s zooming by in overdrive, Ped fans, and just around the bend, autumn will be upon us with chilly nights and changing leaves.

Honestly, we love the latter–yellow, orange, and, especially, red leaves make it worth waving goodbye to summer’s green. And what looks good on branches looks good on your limbs, too. We love red shoes any time of year, but even more so during fall. Here are some of the reds at Ped for the upcoming season:

A perfect shoe for strolling through the rest of summer and then kicking up the leaves in fall is the Trippen Poppy:

The flower on the toe is the star of the show, but the ankle strap adds sex appeal to this comfortable flat, making it red hot and ready!

If you need something dressier (but just as comfortable), consider Cydwoq’s wine-colored Calamity:

The red is rich yet understated, so the Calamity plays well with lots of things in your closet! We love all the subtle curves in the design, including the teardrop cutout.

For those of you who prefer to go bold when you go girly, get an eyeful of Chie Mihara’s flirty red Geraldine:

Fun and unabashedly feminine, this suede heel winks at your admirers with gold leather lids and black leather lashes!

As soon as the air gets crisp, boots become frequent fliers in our daily dressing. Put some red in your tread with Cydwoq’s new Pitstop:

Between the textured ruddy leather and the all-rivet construction, we don’t know which we love more! Plus, the Pitstop‘s Vibram lug sole means you can wear this boot out and about, no matter what the weather!

Another eye-popping red boot with details to make your fans ooh and aah is Trippen’s Raven:

Trippen has the art of exposed seams down to a science! You’ll spark conversations wherever you walk in this sculptural beauty.

Like your boots with a dash of height-enhancing heel? Take a gander at the gorgeousness of the Fiorentini + Baker Nelly:

The 2.5″ stacked-leather heel makes this buckle-strap boot extra badass! When you zip up the Nelly, everyone will know who’s in charge!

Of course, if you really want to pull out the stops and wear all the colors of fall–including red!–step into the sexy Cydwoq Involve:

Say it with us: “WOW!” The hand-painted “Picasso” leather, which has a subtle metallic sheen, is truly a work of art! What a beautiful way to walk into chilly days!

So, get ahead in red, and add your own color to fall!

How to thread the treads

Every season it happens. Shoes we absolutely adore here at Ped HQ seem to go unnoticed and wind up sitting on the shelf rather than heading out the warehouse door on new adventures.

Often it’s because Ped fans can’t quite envision out how a certain style might fit into their wardrobes. We’re here to help! Below are some of our overlooked favorites put together with outfits that show off their potential! And did we mention that all but one are on sale?

First up, the fantastically comfortable Trippen Rom:

Idling in Neutral

The Rom is bold and, yes, a little masculine, so it works especially well with relaxed feminine pieces, like a drop-waist sundress or an airy top and jeans. We added Sophie Digard’s Alpine necklace for extra fun! The Rom was great at $328, but it’s even better at $164!

Heading in a more feminine direction, Chie Mihara’s Calanta sandal has a dual personality:
Modern? Vintage? Chie Mihara works both ways.

This heeled lace-up is the definition of “versatile.” It looks sophisticated and urban worn with the modern outfit on the left but instantly becomes retro-chic with the vintage-inspired look on the right. We’ve accented the left ensemble with Epice’s Girasole Scarf and the right with Cydwoq’s Bright Bag (which would also look terrific with the outfit on the left). The Chie Mihara Calanta was gorgeous at $368, but it’s even lovelier at $184!

Another deliciously versatile sandal is the Argila Marisol:

1 great shoe + 1 great bag = 3 great looks

Metallics are so of the moment, and the silver and black Marisol looks spectacular with lots of outfits, as demonstrated by its loveliness with the three different looks pictured! The Cydwoq Bright Bag in black is another goes-with-everything winner. The Marisol sparkled at $428, but it really shines at $214!

The cheeriest flat sandal in the Ped warehouse this summer is definitely Chie Mihara’s Elio sandal:

Colorama!

The curry-colored suede is fantastic, but it’s also what makes some would-be wearers hesitate. However, the Elios is not as hard to pair as you might think! It looks great with flowing feminine summer clothes, picking up any bit of yellow, but it’s also splendid with more structured casual wear, like this great plaid shift, with which it simply “goes.” Fun at $378, the Elios is a party at $189!

Speaking of color, some people think a red shoe, like the Trippen Zen, requires thought to wear, when they prefer everything to coordinate effortlessly.

Match Game!

What could be cuter or easier than these six pieces? The tops and skirts are completely interchangeable (mixing prints is on trend), and the Fine and the Trippen Carola bag match perfectly! The Zen was bliss at $248, but it’s heaven at $198!

Matching, however, is not necessary! As Stacy and Clinton used to say, “It only has to ‘go,'” which is demonstrated well by the unusual olivine color of the Trippen Magnolia:

It doesn't have to match—it just needs to GO!

None of the prints and colors above precisely match, but they all play well together, and the sweet Magnolia wedge looks stellar with both outfits!

As you browse through the ideas above, note that many of the shoes would go wonderfully with other outfits shown. We say if you love a shoe, you can make it work for you! Be adventurous and always have fun getting dressed!

Enclose the toes!

Monday, June 9th, 2014

For many Ped fans, summer means one thing: sandals, sandals, and more sandals! But we realize that’s not the case for all of you. For instance, the forecast for the next week at Ped HQ is calling for temps in the high 60s and low 70s. And at Lake Tahoe, where we spend many weekends, the mercury often dips down into the 30s at night! A wee bit frosty for bare toes!

Also, some of you prefer to wear shoes no matter what the weather! So although we waxed rhapsodic about sandals recently, today we’re going to sing the praises of summer shoes! Let’s walk through a few:

Just because your toes are relaxing inside doesn’t mean you can’t give them an air-conditioned ride, as demonstrated by the Trippen Chill:

This black-and-white charmer has our name all over it, with its twice-dyed leather, exposed seams, and dotty cutouts! The Chill is the perfect way to chill.

The Cydwoq Speed also makes good use of exposed seams and breezy cutouts, but whereas the Chill features circlets and swooping curves, the Speed wows with squares and angles:

Quintessentially Cydwoq! The Speed offers great arch support, and its all-leather construction just gets more comfy the more you wear it! And the curry color? De-li-cious!

As long as we’re talking about exposed seams and fun colors, let’s turn the conversation to the Trippen Poppy:

Super comfortable and super sassy! The Poppy takes exposed seams one step further, opening them out to form the petals of a stylized flower on the toe! Plus, the plum leather, with its orchid underside, is the definition of juicy! (Did you know “Radiant Orchid” is the Pantone color of 2014? The Poppy is au courant!)

As Ped fans know, anything green is high on my list, so Trippen’s Mountains tops my shoe loves this season:

The jagged edges of the design are inspired by the lovely ridge line of mountaintops. And the lacing crisscrossing “the valley” keeps everything airy and open during warm weather!

Another stunning Trippen color this season is the cherry red edition of the Vivienne:

The Vivienne is a perennial Ped favorite, and with good reason—it’s as easy to wear as it is fun to see! We especially like how the ankle straps crisscross and slide through a loop in back before closing with an adjustable rivet on the side. (We also have the Vivienne in a spicy mustard!)

The new Cydwoq Poster also features a cute-as-can-be ankle strap:

This is Laura’s favorite (and she wears it a lot) because of the riveted snub nose and the printed leather that combines Italian newsprint with graffiti-like elements in reddish pink, blue-grey, and black. Gotta keep it funky, she says!

And when it comes to fun and funky, one design is in a class of its own this season: the unique Cydwoq Converge:

Okay, we know we’re cheating a little bit since the fantastic Converge does let your big toe peek out a circular hole, but the design is really more shoe than sandal! (Or is it? So hard to say!) Although it defies categorization, the Converge is a winning look that’s completely fun to wear! Oh, the conversations you’ll start!

These are just a few ways to go if you don’t want to disclose your toes—more await your discovery at Ped’s main site! Don’t be shy—show off your shoes this summer!

(Psst, in case you didn’t see the post below, the Sweet Treat this week is the Cydwoq Sight, which is mostly shoe, although it does feature a charming peep toe! Click “be sweet to your feet” at the bottom of the box on the left of most Ped pages to be whisked to the Sight with the “Sweet Treat” designation. Then choose your color and size, and add it to your bag to receive an automatic 20% off at checkout!)

Take a walk in the woods!

Sunday, April 27th, 2014

Ped fans, did you celebrate Earth Day this past week? We’re all “tree huggers” at Ped, so we certainly did! Ped is proud to sell only goods from companies committed to ethical production, both environmentally and socially.

You can rest assured that the woods used for the soles of our many gorgeous clog styles are selected and harvested from sustainable sources. The result? Beautifully grained styles that you can feel good about wearing!

We love the lightness of wood for summer, and the cool smoothness of its sanded surface against bare soles feels soooooo good! Here are a few of our woody favorites:

Coclico is here to set straight the myth that clogs lack sex appeal. Fact: there is no hotter tamale than the Coclico Fabiana!

Whew, somebody hand me a fan! If you want to make ’em sweat, the Fabiana is a sure-fire way to do it, standing on a take-notice 3.5″ sculpted wooden heel (made easy to wear by the .5″ platform under the toe). Deadly sexy!

Another wood-soled sandal that’s a guaranteed to turn heads is Trippen’s Mikli:

The Mikli is the tallest heel in the Ped house at 4.5″, but because its supportive wedge platform slopes to a 1.25″ platform under the toe, it’s easy on your tootsies! We’re crazy about the combination of the saucy ankle strap and the figure-8 construction of the toe strap.

Trippen also makes gorgeous use of a criss-cross ankle strap on the Ritzy, which has the coolest wooden sole under the sun!

The way the back strap loops through the window under your heel proves why Trippen wins prize after prize for its designs! So fun! The Ritzy also comes in black, but we especially like how the blue rubber outsole of the espresso version matches the blue underside of the twice-dyed leather!

If you’re looking for a more traditional clog, Fiorentini + Baker’s Lamu may just have your name on it:

Ped fans know how I heart all things green, so this clog caught my eye right away, and the flirty star-shaped cutout sealed the deal! (If green isn’t your scene, we also have the Lamu in a rich copper brown.)

Bringing things closer to the ground, Cydwoq also offers a sweet closed-toe slide. Feast your eyes on the Cydwoq East:

It’s a woven-leather wonder that stands on a perfectly placed 1″ sculpted wooden heel. The berry color pictured is absolutely luscious, but the East also comes in a neutral slate that will work with everything in your closet.

Once the mercury starts to climb, though, we want to get strap-happy and give the dogs some air! One of the best wood-soled ways is the classic Cydwoq Rebel:

The Rebel was one of Cydwoq’s original designs! Its wooden sole is perfectly contoured to follow your foot, and all those straps  are a single masterfully cut piece of leather! (Don’t care for the dark graphite color? You can still rock the Rebel in a brown crackle-textured version!)

Of course, for sheer summer simplicity, the lean and clean wooden goodness of the Trippen Zen is the answer:

No words are needed. The Zen is perfection. (By the way, this perfection is also available in an ideal red.)

Aren’t these woods good? And there are even more ways to gain the grain at Ped’s main site! So take a walk in the woods, and embrace your natural style!
