Party on!

Tuesday, November 26th, 2013

It’s that time of year, Ped fans, when your inbox starts to overflow with invitations to holiday shindigs. No doubt, your favorite LBD will get a workout, night after sparkly night! But what to put on your feet to make sure you’re still standing comfortably after all those hours of socializing while quaffing eggnog, wassail, and champagne?

Ped to the rescue with a few festive ways to keep your dogs from howling at the moon!

Chie Mihara knows all about letting your inner girly girl out to shine without sacrificing your soles (and arches and toes). One of the prettiest shoes of the season is the Chie Mihara Kitaro:

Ooooh, we adore the textured gold leather trim with the blue suede heel and brown suede toe! What a way to add color and sparkle to a little black dress!

Colorful suede also makes the Accessoire Doisneu a welcome guest at any party:

Gorgeous and soooooo comfortable! This beauty’s suede-covered platform slopes from 1.75″ in back to .75″ up front, making the pitch a delightful 1″! And the stylized rosette is beyond chic! (We adore the “grenat” (garnet) version pictured here, but the Doisneau also comes in amethyst.)

Another flower-adorned shoe that will have you shining is Chie Mihara’s Karta:

This glittery oxford is tied up and ready for cocktails! (We also offer the Karta in a red that’s as pretty as a poinsettia.)

If you’re looking for something sparkly but a little airier, you’re guaranteed to wow in Cydwoq’s Gaudi:

Hi ho, silver! In this gorgeous sandal, you’ll turn every head in the room. (And those behind you can swoon over the design on the etched heel!)

Perhaps you like your metallics a little more low-key. If so, say hello to Cydwoq’s understated yet oh-so chic Fluid:

The Fluid is perfect for when you need to go straight from work out for evening drinks—it makes the transition in the most fluid and stylish way!

Another work-to-play knockout is Cydwoq’s strap-a-licious Young:

The Young is so very sexy but in a socially acceptable way! (Make sure you click “Views” to see the saucy corset-like closure in back.)

The same closure adds even more fuel to the fiery hotness of Cydwoq’s Knee, which is ideal if you want to party in a dressy ankle boot:

Isn’t that burnt-out paisley leather breathtaking? The Knee is guaranteed to make you the modern and edgy belle of the ball!

For you Ped fans whose style is more funky than femme, consider rocking the holiday cocktails in Cydwoq’s Love Ankle Boot:

We love the idea of wearing an LBD with this black and red badass beauty! You’ll light hearts on fire! (Where you can roast some chestnuts…)

As usual, there are more ways to make your feet festive over at Ped’s main site (don’t miss Cydwoq’s Skate and Rotate, which we showed you a few posts back).

‘Tis the season to take your tootsies out on the town!

Color your world!

Sunday, September 29th, 2013

Ped fans, we are loving the current emphasis on COLOR—all the new shoe hues have the Ped warehouse looking bright and lively! It’s amazing how an infusion of color makes the daily grind less grind-like and more like a party.

Quite a few of you, though, are mystified by how to work the new shades into your wardrobe. It’s easier than you think! You simply need  to realize things don’t have to match as long as they “go.” In fact, matching too precisely can make an outfit look “twee,” as the British say. (Laura says a friend of hers calls it the “flight attendant look.”)

You’ve also told us you worry that you’ll only wear colorful shoes once in a while, with one specific thing. To demonstrate the versatility of some of our more show-stopping shoes, we’ve incorporated them into not one but two outfits, often quite different in tone and purpose, to help spark your imagination. Let’s take a tour, and along the way, we’ll offer a few colorful tips.

First up, the Trippen Calexico:

Boot up your creativity

This fun boot offers a lot more options than simply wearing it with jeans! We love the Calexico with the easy day look on the left, but it can even go after-five when paired with the dress on the right. We’ve also included Jamie Joseph’s Round Rock Crystal Ring since it looks stellar with the white in both the top and the dress.

Another shoe that’s more than simply casual is the Cydwoq Lodge:

The red edge

Sure, it’s great for weekend apple-picking in the outfit on the left, but look at the chic edge the Lodge gives the argyle sheath dress on the right! The Cydwoq Bright Bag also easily transitions from brunch casual to workweek sleek. OD-ing on all that red? Simply add the Epice Plaza Scarf to change the flavor!

Perhaps your personal style trends toward conservative, and although you like to browse at Ped, you can’t imagine how you’d incorporate a colorful style into your wardrobe. The answer is to let a shoe, like the Cydwoq Larkspur, punctuate your outfit, like a great piece of jewelry.

Classic fare with flair

What a way to jazz up a suit!

Chie Mihara’s Tunisia is a shoe that immediately produces oohs and aahs, but the unusual color and patterned heel mistakenly lead people to think it might be hard to pair.

Art all day!

The key is not to worry about matching the color and instead simply let it “go.” The Tunisia‘s checkerboard heel echoes the black and white photo on the dress on the left and complements the variety of patterns in the skirt on the right. Since the shoe and clothes are doing the heavy lifting style-wise, it’s nice to go with a simple bag, like the Cydwoq Bright.

Sometimes it’s not just the color but also the cut that gives Ped fans pause when they think about how to wear a design. Case in point, the Trippen Drama boot:

Red boots and ready

A couple options: 1) contrast the Drama‘s fabulous flared top with simple straight lines up top, such as wearing it with a pencil skirt and streamlined top; or 2) let its shape play up the lines and movement of a flirty A-line dress. We tossed in Jamie Joseph’s round carnelian ring for a little extra red zing!

If you approach dressing with a sense of adventure, it won’t matter an iota if you don’t own anything blue to wear with the Trippen Tender:

In with color, out with matchy-matchy

When you want to reference the color of your shoe, accessories can work that magic. We like the contrast of the floral of the skirt on the left with Epice’s Baya Scarf, which includes a periwinkle color that calls out to, but doesn’t match the blue of the Tender. On the right, it’s fun to mix the squares of the dress with the circles on the Epice Los Lunares Scarf.

Finally, let’s consider  Chie Mihara’s Kalendu, which is simply too juicy to miss!

The grass is always greener in Chie Mihara

You don’t have to go be a girly girl to take advantage of its delicious greenness! The Kalendu adds such fun to the workweek look on the left (again without actually matching any of the colors in the sweater) and is utterly chic with the casual jeans and top on the right. We also like Cydwoq’s Bright Bag and Jamie Joseph’s Organic Circle Earrings with both outfits.

As you’ve probably noticed, many of the shoes above work equally well with outfits paired with other shoes. We hope these ideas bolster your confidence that colorful shoes truly can be your constant companions and not just once-in-a-blue-moon friends! Life is so much more fun in color!

Heel-acious!

Thursday, August 15th, 2013

Ped fans, a sure sign summer is winding down is when boxes full of fall goodness flood the Ped warehouse. We’re adding new styles to the site every day, and wow, are they ever beautiful this season! We’re particularly charmed by several of the innovative heels, which let you add both inches and interest to your look.

Here are a few of our favorites:

Anyone who’s spent any time in a pair of Chie Mihara heels know that she achieves the seemingly impossible: combining high style with down-to-earth comfort! Often Chie gives the heel an extra flourish to let you flaunt those extra inches. Who can resist the 3″ checkerboard leather-wrapped heel on the new Tunisia?

CMTunisiaheels

As if the stunning heel weren’t enough, this lace-up’s teal blue leather looks good enough to drink!

Another knockout heel from our lady of Spain is the Chie Mihara Brizna:

CMBriznaheels

Strut your stripes! We also love the flirty window below the lacing—something saucy to see in front and something sensational to see in back!

Wooden heels and platform soles are the height of style these days, and Chie MIhara goes with the grain, adding some interesting angles to her new Wespa oxford:

CMWespaheels

Chie is expert at amping up even simple designs, and the geometry of this 3″ heel is the perfect example! Plus, the Wespa‘s deep blue suede is to die for! (Not a fan of navy? We also have the Wespa in chocolate brown!)

Coclico also knows how to make a wooden heel into a sculptural work of art. Check out the lovely curve and subtle taper of new Vita bootie’s heel:

CoclicoVitaheels

We absolutely love the silhouette of this boot! The inward gesture of the Vita‘s 2.5″ heel provides the perfect counterpoint to the outward flare of its top!

A Ped favorite year after year is Trippen’s t-shaped rubber wedge, which not only is über-comfortable but also adds arty edge to many of Trippen’s fun designs, like the new Calexico ankle boot:

TrippenCalexicoheels

Wow! Between the lace-up back, colorful exposed seams, and fantastic shape of the 1.75″ heel, people walking behind you will be so transfixed by your cool boots that they may stumble into poles, other people, or traffic. Be careful with your power to attract and distract when you step out in this beauty!

The 2″ resin heel that supports many of Cydwoq’s Vintage styles is also famously comfortable, and now and then Rafi gives it extra zest! Get an eyeful of the gorgeous etched design that spices up the understated pewter version of the Calamity:

CydwoqCalamityheels

The art-deco elegance of the heel’s pattern looks so lovely with the streamlined design of this shoe! Even when the occasion calls for “conservative,” the Calamity‘s heel lets you put a little “kapow” in your style!

We love a shoe that offers something to see from every angle! Want to heighten your impact? These heels have got your back!

(Speaking of things that are clearly something to see, this week’s Sweet Treat is Jamie Joseph’s spectacular Round Rock Crystal Ring! Ready to sparkle? Then click “be sweet to your feet” at the bottom of the box on the left of most Ped pages to land at the Round Rock Crystal Ring with the code that will magically bring 20% off at checkout!)

Sizzling? Sale sandals are so refreshing!

Saturday, July 6th, 2013

Holy jalapeño peppers, Ped fans, it is hot outside! When the temperature goes up and the sun beats down, we like to be as bare as possible, so a great pair of sandals is de rigueur! Happily, Ped has a summer’s worth of bodacious sandals now on sale! (Good timing!)

Here are just a few ways to give your toes some sweet relief!

One of the prettiest strappy flats this season comes from Chie Mihara. The world is your oyster when you buckle up the Gipsy:

The cobalt blue suede is so romantic, but the nearly flat outsole (a sweet .5″ wedge) and comfortable insole mean you can be all business if you’ve got a thousand things on your errand list. Dash from here to there, looking pretty as you please, and then out for a mission-accomplished cocktail! Once $358, the Gipsy is now a cool $179!

Like blue suede but hoping to add a few inches to your height? Then perhaps the Coclico Mori has your name on it:

Instantly, you’ll be stunning and statuesque! Even better, the Mori’s cork platform wedge is light and comfy, perfect for everything from shopping at the farmer’s market to going to an outdoor concert. Once $358, it’s now a breezy $279.

Blue is cool this season, but red is also red hot! When you want to go bold, there’s no better way than to tie up the Cliff Dweller Emma:

So sexy in a tom-boyish way! Looking for the perfect travel sandal? The Emma is ready to go, go, go! Once $198, this beauty is now a refreshing $158!

Maybe you’re ripe for red but hoping for something barely there, in which case the Cydwoq Naked is playing your song:

If summer were a sandal, it would probably look like this! The Naked is a perennial Ped favorite—perfect in every way! Once $236, it’s now a delightful $188.

Of course, a simple brown sandal is welcome everywhere it goes! One of our favorites this season is the Cydwoq Cedar:

Absolutely timeless, the Cedar is forever modern. When you want one sandal to carry you through every warm day this year and for years to come, the Cedar is at your service! Once $254, it’s now a bracing $127!

Yes, heel lovers, we have a neutral classic to make you happy, too: Pep Monjo’s Brigitta.

One of our most popular sandals this season (everything Pep Monjo flies out the door), we have just a couple sizes left in this gorgeous olivine or everybody’s go-to color, black. So act fast! Once $348, it’s now a sweet $278.

Want to pull out all the stops and go high and bold? Then Fiorentini + Baker has just the thing, and its name is Dina:

Be prepared to stop traffic everywhere you walk! We love this sassy sandal in the burgundy suede pictured, but it also comes in beautiful mustard-colored leather. Once $412, it’s now a delicious $199!

Of course, if you want to go slam-bam glamorous in a sandal that will turn every head at the party, then the Cydwoq Boomerang is the ticket:

With its flirty design and multi-colored marbled leather, the Boomerang brings the “wow” whenever you wear it! BOOM! Once $304, this knockout is now a nice icy $239.

Still more open and airy delights await your discovery at Ped’s main site, and we’ve discounted many for your summer pleasure! It’s the perfect time to show some skin and let your tootsies taste the breeze!

(Speaking of sensational sandals, the Trippen Arch is the Sweet Treat for a few more days! You have until Tuesday to click “be sweet to your feet” in the upper right corner of any Ped page to be whisked to the Arch’s page, where the magic code will bring 20% off at checkout!)

What to wear with what pair

Monday, June 3rd, 2013

Ped fans, we know how it is. You fall in love with a pair of rockin’ shoes, sandals, or boots, but then you resist their siren call because you can’t envision what you’d wear them with—and who wants to spend money on something that’s lovely yet languishes in the closet?

Don’t despair, we’re here to help! Below, you’ll find ideas for how to wear several of our bolder designs this season. With luck, these outfits will jump-start your own creativity, and before you know it your imagination will be off and running with ways your sole desire would work with your wardrobe.

Not surprisingly, one of the most whimsical styles this season comes from Chie Mihara! Her Ingra is the essence of  “summer,” but its color palette may seem challenging at first glance. It’s actually more adaptable than you might think. Here’s one way we’d love to wear it:

Sunday brunch of laziness

This easy-going dress from Cotélac falls just above the knee, with a hint of a drop waist and a dash of 1920s pizazz, which works perfectly with the Ingra’s oxford sensibility. We’ve added Sophie Digard’s Etoiles necklace for added flapper-esque flair. Nothing here matches per se, but it all “goes” in a wonderful way! Sunday brunch, anyone?

Another Chie Mihara shoe that we adore is the Obara, with its mix of textures and colors. Don’t underestimate its versatility:

Urban Interest
The obvious shoe for this bold shift dress from Maliparmi would be something in black or cream, but the Obara is so much more interesting and takes the look to a whole new level of chic. Add Jamie Joseph’s simple Gold Organic Circle Necklace, and you’ll be the picture of artistic and urbane sophistication!

The lovely Accessoire Babeth is perfect for a night on the town, but it plays equally well as a casual day shoe:

Perfect picnic

We love the look of a wedge platform with cropped trousers—it’s the ideal antidote to frumpiness! We’re also all for mixing patterns! Combining Epice’s striped Montauk Scarf with the abstract floral of the Cotélac top creates a visual party that will have people smiling everywhere you go.

As every Ped fan knows, we advocate boots all year long, but we realize some people think boots and sundresses look a bit jeune. But they don’t have to, as illustrated by this use of Fiorentini + Baker’s Nicky Boot:

Mod Goddess

This is how to go retro-mod while still looking sexy and modern! The clean and bold lines of Cydwoq’s Bright Bag work beautifully with the dress and booties—three easy pieces for day-tripping in the city of your choice!

If your penchant for vintage runs to an earlier era, check out this idea for showing off the Vialis Zarita:

Vintage Red

Red will always turn heads, especially when you look like a 1940s Hollywood starlet! (By the way, read this study of just how persuasive wearing red can be.) Just for fun, we’ve pushed the red envelope with Jamie Joseph’s knockout Round Carnelian Ring!

See? When you open your mind to the possibilities, every pair of Ped shoes becomes infinitely wearable! (Otherwise, we wouldn’t carry it.) The whole idea is to have fun with what you wear! Go forth and be bold with your soles!
