The soulful soles of Deux Souliers!

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014

Ped fans, it’s been a while since we invited a new shoe line into the Ped house, but we are so excited to welcome Deux Souliers!

Deux Souliers means “two shoes” in French, but the company itself is Spanish! Based in Barcelona and led by designer Nunu Solsona, Deux Souliers embraces “slow fashion,” attending to each design in a considered and unrushed way. Deux Souliers’ approach is to adapt classic styles to make them fresh for a modern era while keeping their timeless quality intact!

The shoes themselves are handcrafted in Menorca (yep, that’s Pep Monjo’s base, too) using 100% Spanish materials. The result? See for yourselves:

Let’s face it, there are a lot of ankle boots out there this season, but Deux Souliers’ Collar Bootie still manages to stand out from the crowd:

DSCollarBootie

We love how the mocha-colored nubuck section embraces the chocolate suede collar, tongue, and toe almost like a reverse spat. And the red top-stitching on the midsection is fantastic! If you’re not down with brown, we also offer the Collar Bootie in a gorgeous navy blue.

Another style that’s everywhere is the oxford, but once again Deux Souliers gives theirs a little something extra. Say hello to the Blucher Strap:

DSBlucherStrap

The basic oxford is beautiful, but the addition of the snap strap, which rises diagonally and then zips around the back, is sheer style genius!

Another classic lace-up receiving the Deux Soliers treatment is the deck shoe. Preppy no more, the Nautic Oxford is urban and edgy:

DSNauticOxford

The combination of black leather and felted wool makes this shoe arty and distinctive. Plus we’re gaga for the hexagonal metal grommets! So nutty (couldn’t resist) and fun!

But Deux Soliers is not done with its deck-shoe inspiration! The boat shoe also gets transformed into the head-turning Nautic Heel:

DSNauticHeel

How we love a red shoe, and this one has us over the moon! All the elements–from the mix of pebbled leather and nubuck to the chunky heel to the outside leather lacing—ccombine to make one stunning package!

Nevertheless, we understand some Ped fans prefer a more minimal look. Deux Souliers keeps things to the stylish necessary for the Seam Heel:

DSSeamHeel

What a lean, clean, blue walking machine! The navy color is au courant, and the natural edge of the leather rimming the sole offers the perfect zing of contrast.

Of course, if you’re ready to step things up and make a big statement, Deux Souliers has just the thing! Drink in the gorgeousness of the Chelsea:

DSChelsea

Such a rock ‘n’ roll rebel! The Chelsea may be a super-chic badass, but this bootie is still a pleasure to walk in, letting you strut your stuff with ease while flashing a little toe cleavage or colorful tights!

Are you as wowed as we are by Deux Souliers? We’re so pleased to add these “two shoes” to Ped’s treasures! Now, the only question is which pair to wear first…

Half Time!

Tuesday, July 29th, 2014

Just like at many sports events, half time at Ped offers the chance to get up and stretch your legs–in new shoes! We’re midway through our summer sale, and many of the best styles of the season are now half-price. So it’s a great time to snag that pair you’ve been hoping to score!

One design we’ve adored from the first time we saw it (and tried it on!) is Argila’s Marisol:

So much to drool over here, from the Marisol‘s pinked edges to its of-the-moment use of metallic leather to the innovative internal heel support! Crush-worthy at $428, it’s true love at $214!

Another noteworthy metallic sandal is the Trippen Eye:

Easy to wear and super sexy, the Eye‘s innovative lacing that threads behind your heel and entwines your ankle will have all eyes on you! Eye-catching at $328, it’s a total looker at $149. (You’re correct–that is more than half off! Lucky you!)

Cydwoq also combines an ankle strap with a gorgeous metallic leather in its stellar Laser sandal:

Simple but sooooo dazzling! This versatile style, which easily goes from a picnic in the park to rooftop cocktails, was sweet at $254 but is decadently delicious at $127!

If black is your go-to year-in an year-out, the Coclico Tyrion offers similar quick-change charms:

Ri-di-culously sexy on, this badass style contrasts supple leather with a natural wood heel! Tempting at $392, it’s irresistible at $196.

Trippen also takes natural wood and sculpts it into a smooth full-sole experience in the Zen sandal clog:

So much more beautiful and comfortable than clunky clogs of the past, the Zen (which also comes in red) was a jewel at $248, but it’s a diamond at $129!

Some sandals are just for summer, but others are up for going to a party any time of year, like Chie Mihara’s Amor:

Suede and leather bloom in union! The Amor was a flirt at $412, but it’s a total knockout at $206!

Speaking of shoes that span the seasons, the Cliff Dweller Canoe readily paddles from summer right into fall:

The ideal weekend shoe, this classic style gets jazzed up with hatched embossing on the luxe Italian leather (which also comes in green). Worth every cent at $268, it’s a precious commodity at $134!

But the best shoe for walking from summer into fall is hands-down (feet down?) Pep Monjo’s fantastic Marcella oxford:

This winner’s a touchdown, TKO, century, slam dunk, and home run all rolled into one! Fantastic at $392, it’s every superlative under the sun at $196! (Seriously, catch it if you can!)

There are even more ways to play in Ped’s sale section, so get in the game! You’ll make points with your bank account and walk away a champion of style!

Check out the new Chie!

Friday, July 25th, 2014

The time has come, Ped fans, to see what marvels Chie Mihara has whipped up for fall! Everyone’s favorite Spanish sorceress of style has once again designed heels to make you happy in leathers to make everyone look.

So pour yourself an ice tea or a cocktail and prepare to scroll through beauty!

The title of this post is a play on one of Chie Mihara’s most playful leather techniques this season, checkerboard weaving, which looks especially sassy on the new Uptown oxford:

How fun is this lace-up??? We especially like how the caramel leather back and dark brown leather toe complement the Uptown‘s green, cream, and chocolate checked midsection!

Chie takes her checkered ways a little higher and amps up the femininity in the gorgeous Genesis:

Ooh la la, so chic! The leather colors are eye-catching and unusual (that’s a pale sage interwoven with black in the midsection). Even though the heel is a statuesque 3″, you can comfortably wear it all day long because Chie has cleverly hidden a .5″ platform under the toe, bringing the pitch to an easy 2.5″.

The always imaginative Ms. Mihara moves her checkerboard technique in a new direction on the Dalatchi, which weaves together wool and leather:

If ever there was a bootie to stop traffic, this is it! Below the stunning woven shaft, black matte leather adds a luxe element, while the 3″ sculpted wood heel is architecturally interesting. Sister, trust us, the Dalatchi is GO!

But Chie’s checkerboard weave isn’t the only trick she has up her design sleeve this season. Take a gander at the flocked leather on the Jan:

We swoon every time we look at this modern Mary Jane! The flocked leather on the toe, which feels like suede and looks like a mini-cheetah print, is the show stealer, but also adding fuel to the fire are the Jan‘s slightly flared heel and beautifully constructed buckle strap!

Chie Mihara has the deftest touch when it comes to creating understated designs that still let your flair fly, like the Ozana:

Perfect for arguing a case in court or holding court at an art opening, the Ozana‘s luxe grey suede is subtly sexed up by its ankle strap and teeth-like fringe! Sharp and chic!

Another bold detail that’s just right without going over-the-top is the bow on  Chie Mihara’s Zulema boot:

All the lines are lean and clean, allowing the bow to be at once fem and and badass! Zip up the Zulema, and put some girly zing in your step!

But when going over-the-top is exactly what you want, we highly recommend Chie Mihara’s knockout Wiuda:

Holy hot sauce, what a looker! This purplish-brown, croc-embossed leather lace-up, with its flared heel and pointed—yet still comfortable!—toe,  would have been beautiful on its own. But Chie embellishes it with a fringed and pinked-edge black leather flower to send this femme fetale into the stratosphere of gorgeousness! Wow to the Wiuda!

Chie Mihara shoes always make us want to cha-cha out the door and down the street, so everyone can admire our beautiful feet! Believe it or not, there’s even more Chie Mihara loveliness to admire at Ped, so click on through and put  some Spanish spice in your step!

(And don’t forget to snag a bag! This week’s Sweet Treat is the Trippen Carola, which you can get for cool 20% off by clicking “be sweet to your feet” at the bottom of the box on the left of most Ped pages. When you arrive at the Carola with the “Sweet Treat ” designation, all you have to do is add it to your bag to receive the discount automatically at checkout.)

Red it!

Friday, September 28th, 2012

Last spring when I returned from the shoe shows in Paris and Milan, I told you this fall and winter would be colorful! Now, as promised, we’re off and running with the hued shoes! First up, RED!

In our previous post, celebrating Trippen, we showed you the spectacular Corset boot. But it’s just one of the red temptations from Trippen this season. For instance, who can resist the Wicked?

We are totally taken with the way Trippen has subtly stitched the  buttery leather to create folds that cascade down the front of this bootie! Stunning—yet comfortable and light, thanks to the “cups” rubber sole.

Trippen takes the same shade of red to new heights with the knockout Mexico boot:

Everyone at Ped HQ is in love with this “Rubin Red,” which reminds us of cayenne peppers. Spicy and delicious! Plus, the extra-long laces offer a wealth of ways to style the Mexico!

Trippen uses a slightly darker shade of red leather to create the smashing new Captain:

Take a closer look at the buckle on this great low boot—the strap extends right out of the leather that forms the shaft! Clever! And the Red Wine color makes us thirsty!

As long as we’re on the topic of wine-red leathers, the burgundy shade of Cydwoq’s Seek is intoxicating!

Deep and delicious, this darkest of dark reds makes the sexy Seek even more seductive! Pair this with your fave little black dress, and take your pick of the hearts beating faster at the sight of you!

And if going glam is your game, then consider buckling up Chie Mihara’s Quesquece:

Holy cannoli, this curvy t-strap gives new meaning to the term “red hot”! The combination of the deep red patent leather trim with the crimson suede is dazzling!

Of course, menswear-inspired styles are also au courant. Perhaps the red version of the Fiorentini + Baker Eliza might be your cup of tea:

Heaven help us, we LOVE this shoe! The Eliza is truly the oxford to end all oxfords, and a ruddy color just enhances its rugged beauty!

Which brings us to our rosy finale, another Fiorentini + Baker favorite looking lovely in red, the timeless Eli ankle boot:

As beautiful as a sugar maple tree in fall, this luscious red looker will rev up your style! Motors all over the world will run a little hotter after seeing you out and about in the Eli!

And that’s not all the red at Ped—lots more spicy styles are ready to set your heart on fire over at Ped’s main site. So get the lead out and put the red on!

Stay tuned, Ped fans, next we do blue!

(By the way, this week’s Sweet Treat is the Vialis Greta. It may not be red-hued, but it’s definitely red hot! Just click “be sweet to your feet” in the upper right corner of any Ped page to land at the Greta with the discount code that will bring 20% off at check0ut!)
